Metallica’s ’72 Seasons’ Debuts Within Top 3 on Billboard 200

Metallica’s decades-long streak of #1 albums has ended.

The band’s most recent record, “72 Seasons”, debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, behind country star Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time”.

That ends a string of six consecutive Metallica albums to debut at #1 – a streak that goes all the way back to 1991’s “Black Album”.

However, “72 Seasons” was still the top album in terms of pure sales – Wallen’s chart position was mostly due to streaming.

Should streaming, YouTube views, etc. count toward album charts? Does failing to debut at #1 make 72 Seasons a flop for Metallica? Share your opinions on 107.7 The Bone’s Facebook or Twitter page.
