Foo Fighters Announce New Album ‘But Here We Are’, Share First Single ‘Rescued’

After teasing fans that new music was on the way, Foo Fighters announced a new album and shared the first single on Wednesday.

“But Here We Are” is the band’s first album since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins last year.

The band calls the album “A brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year” – but also “A testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family”.

The first single, “Rescued”, seems to reference Hawkins’ death in its opening lines: “It came out of nowhere, it happened so fast… is this happening now?”

The band has not revealed who plays drums on “Rescued”, or who will play drums on the band’s upcoming tour and festival dates.

Fans will see the new drummer in a little over a month at the band’s first show back on May 24th. Bay Area fans can see the Foo Fighters perform at Outside Lands as they headline the festival on Saturday, August 12th.

“But Here We Are” will be out June 2nd and is available for pre-order now.
